For most of his career, Sergey has worked in the field of nature protection and environmental awareness. For five years he worked as the IUCN WCPA vice-chair for the North Eurasia region, taking part in different nature protection projects in Central Asia, the Russian Arctic, and other regions

My most transformative travel experience
A 140-NM trip around the islands of Franz Josef Land, with five colleagues in just one Zodiac, when we were trying to get to an island to see our friend who was there with an archaeological expedition. A lot of new places, the spirit of adventure, and no weather forecast.
My exploration inspiration
Fridtjof Nansen. Definitely one of the most extraordinary explorers, who also had a great personality.
My dream adventure
“Adventure is just bad planning,” as Roald Amundsen once said. So no adventures, only expeditions.
