We were lucky enough to witness countless glaciers, polar bears, whales, walruses, and birds in an intimate small group.

Secret Atlas was founded to offer an alternative to large vessels. We feel the experience of exploring a place in a small group is a far richer experience for our guests and has a much lower impact on the fragile environments we visit.

As large cruise ships become more luxurious the expedition feeling has become lost. Secret Atlas works with real expedition vessels and offers an authentic expedition experience on all our voyages.

We offer the richest experience in Svalbard on our Expedition Micro Cruises with 12 Guests or our Small Ship Explorer Cruises with 48 Guests. Secret Atlas offers Svalbard cruises from April – September departing from Longyearbyen.

Svalbard is home to 2,000 glaciers, an abundance of Arctic wildlife, and the most northerly town on Earth. It offers some of the most beautiful Arctic scenery and is considered Europe’s last great wilderness.

Svalbard is located between the North Pole and mainland Norway.

Below are some of the comments from our guests:

‘Svalbard is a very different place. It’s like a new planet. You have to come and see for yourself.’

‘The thing I like most about the smaller boats is that you really get time to know the other passengers. Really understand what they want to see. Understand what has driven them to come on the trip here.’

‘We are few persons so you can see much more.’ ‘I think it’s important to fill this wilderness with fewer people.’

‘We are not surging the place. We are just a little part of the place and we can observe without feeling like a mass of tourists.’

‘Svalbard needs to be discovered. The animals the wildlife the nature here. Especially for this trip on this boat, it is perfect. You shouldn’t choose anything else.’

‘It feels like it is just you and the nature.’
